General sewing supplies, scissors, pins, etc.

Machine embroidery hoop

Machine needles:  70, 80, 90, topstitch, metalfil, jeans

Darning foot, Walking or quilting foot, straight stitch foot, satin stitch foot or couching foot

Machine quilting gloves – I recommend Machiningers as they are light weight and comfortable (and
your hands won’t sweat as much).  You can use latex if you like or whatever you already have.

Pencil, pigma .05 black marker or a very fine-point sharpie

A pair of tweezers or a hemostat

Two or three quilt “sandwiches”  (fabric and batting sandwiches) plain colors best for making samples

A couple of sheets of vellum or tracing paper

Tulle (fine netting) – white or black - one half-yard – inexpensive variety

Threads:  bobbin thread – white or black, 60-80 weight in colors (two or three) and  all kinds, cottons,
rayons, polys, metallics, monofilament, heavier weights like 40, 30, and larger (the smaller the
number the thicker the thread) COLORS!!!

Fibers – those beautiful threads that are too big to go through the needle but you just “have to have
them” and want to use them, ribbons, yarns, gimp, eyelash, whatever you have or want to
purchase.

Specialty fabrics – small pieces (10” x 10” or thereabouts), the slippery, shiny, funky, lycra, furry, etc.

Stabilizers:  tear aways, lightweight leave-ins, wash-aways (small amounts of each)*

*  Stabilizers will be supplied by Westerville Sew-N-Save.  Students will also be able to use additional decorative threads from Sew-N-Save's class supplies while in class.
